As most of you are aware, the AFCA passed a resolution in 2008 to approach various government bodies to study Recruitment & Retention issues in Alberta. The first phase of the plan involved an environmental scan to determine the current situation in Alberta. The second phase was development and creation of tools and resources to help with Recruitment & Retention of volunteer firefighters which was completed May 15, 2010 and presented at the AFCA annual conference.
The Recruitment & Retention working group is now moving onto the third phase of the process which is to evolve the tools introduced in the second phase. The working group selected four areas to research and further develop at this time. We are once again going out to the AFCA membership for more input.
